When moving out of a rental unit, tenants are generally expected to:
- steam clean or shampoo the carpets at the end of tenancies lasting one year or longer;
- steam clean or shampoo the carpets at the end of tenancies of any length involving pets or smoking;
- clean the stove top, elements, and oven;
- defrost and clean the refrigerator;
- wipe out the inside of the dishwasher;
- clean behind and underneath the refrigerator and stove, if they are on rollers;
- clean scuff marks and fingerprints off the walls;
- clean the fireplace, if it has been used; and
- clean the inside windows and tracks, including removing mold.
